Dining out with a family is expensive. Dining out in a big, unfamiliar city like Chicago can be disastrously expensive. Let's look at some cheap family restaurants in and around Chicago where you take the whole family to dine. We are looking at restaurants and diners where each person can get a complete meal for under $10 per person. And we are looking for great tasting, kid friendly meals at that.
Brown Sugar - Both barbecue sauces and dry rubs may contain brown sugar which gives the sweet flavor to the whole sweet-and-sour balance that a pioneer woman pulled pork sandwich should have. When I was growing up, we only had spaghetti about once a month, so it was a special treat. My mom would take Lawry's spaghetti sauce dry mix and add tomato paste and water: wah la, we had a topping for that great spaghetti!

The blade steak will have to be cubed and free of fat. Heat oil in soup kettle and brown the cubes of steak. Dice the green peppers, mince the garlic and add to the mix. Let simmer for a few minutes. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, water, chili powder, sugar, salt, oregano, and pepper. Turn the heat to low and simmer for several hours. If you use a slow cooker, you will need to brown the meat first. The other day my husband and I were strolling through our local warehouse club when he spotted frozen pizzas. He literally said to me "let's get some pizzas, it has been a long time since we've had frozen pizza!"
